The soaring grace of a bird's flight above Dulwich Village signals the embrace of suburban tranquillity. Amid this scene, a determined commuter pedals with fervour along the high street, skilfully navigating between cars in pursuit of a timely appointment. The vibrant façade of Bartley's Florist adds a burst of colour to the street, boasting an array of blossoms that captivate the eye. A passer-by stands in patient reprieve, awaiting the passing traffic. In the heartbeat of the village, life unfolds, weaving a tapestry of bustling yet serene moments that define this cherished haven.

Dulwich's historical roots stretch back to 967 AD when it was a hamlet outside London, granted by King Edgar to his thane Earl Aelfheah. The name "Dulwich" has undergone various spellings like Dilwihs, Dylways, and Dullag. It is thought to originate from "Dill," a white flower, and "wihs," meaning a damp meadow, signifying "the meadow where dill grows." Ownership of the land passed from Harold Godwinson to King William I of England following the events of 1066.
