Hartley's Jam Factory, Bermondsey | South London Artwork
from £150.00

Giclee London Print | Originally Painted with Acrylic on Canvas.

The towering chimney stack of Hartley's Jam factory dominates this picturesque view, showcasing Webber Street and Tower Bridge Road. Skilfully painted with acrylic on canvas board, this distinctive artwork delves into the rustic allure of Bermondsey. On the far left "City Space" development comes into view, and further into the distance a bustling laundrette hard at work. At the intersection with Tower Bridge Road, two cyclists patiently await the changing traffic lights while a London cabbie gracefully manoeuvres past.

Delving into the history of Hartley’s Jam factory, it was established in 1901 on the grounds of a former tannery and linoleum factory. Fruits were meticulously sourced from the orchards of Kent and transported via train to the Bricklayers Arms rail depot on Pages Walk. Hartley's maintained their own Thames-side wharf, where sugar from the Tate works in Silvertown arrived for processing. The factory premises have since been converted into modern apartment blocks.

Our array of vibrant prints is a splendid choice for an eye-catching feature wall that beautifully encapsulates the essence of London life. Consider creating a captivating collage on your walls for an art gallery ambiance.

Blackheath, Tranquil Vale - Cyclist | London Painting
from £150.00

Giclee Colourful Art Reproduction | Makes for Memorable Gifts

This exquisite acrylic painting of Blackheath captures Tranquil Vale and has been made into limited edition prints. In this captivating artwork, a cyclist wearing a vibrant yellow top commands the foreground, drawing your attention with a burst of colour and energy.

As your gaze moves beyond the cyclist, the background unveils the charming Blackheath. It encapsulates the quaint local bookshop, a cosy café, and All Saints Church, crowned by its majestic spire. A bus makes a brief stop, gathering passengers, while a row of neatly parked cars and bicycles patiently await their owners, ticking away the moments until their parking tickets expire.

Beyond its scenic allure, Blackheath boasts a rich history that often goes unnoticed. It served as a rallying point for two pivotal uprisings in English history: Wat Tyler's Peasants' Revolt of 1381 and Jack Cade's Kentish rebellion in 1450, commemorated by road names on the heath's western side. The echoes of rebellion lingered as Cornish rebels, after camping at Blackheath, met their fate at the Battle of Deptford Bridge, also known as the Battle of Blackheath, on 17 June 1497.

Our collection offers a diverse array of London-inspired designs in both vivid colour prints and intricate pencil drawings.
