Brigade Court, Borough, London, SE1

Showroom Opening Night

A Grand Night Out

It’s always fun to be invited to an opening night — and Brigade Court certainly didn’t disappoint. Nestled on Southwark Bridge Road on the site of the old fire Station, the developers have transformed this space into a luxurious three-bedroom apartment, each with its own en suite. The master suite even boasts a walk-in wardrobe, giving it that extra layer of opulence and grandeur.

Freestanding Bathtub

Now, I’ve never really considered myself an exhibitionist — so seeing a freestanding bathtub in the bedroom took a little getting used to! But that aside, the craftsmanship throughout the apartment was truly impressive, from the elegant carpentry to the four-poster bed (yes, really).

Local Artwork by M.Rodwell on Display

What made the evening particularly special for me was seeing my own artwork on display throughout the living room, staircases, and hallways. I often visualise my pieces in these kinds of interiors when staging them online, but there’s something uniquely powerful about seeing them framed and in situ — surrounded by beautifully finished walls, natural light, lovely furniture and rich textures. It truly brought them to life.

Hanging Artwork: The Power of Spacing and Staging

When it comes to hanging artwork, spacing is everything. At Brigade Court, we took care to stage each piece according to the dimensions of the room and the scale of the furniture. It’s not just about what you hang — it’s where and how you hang it.

M.Rodwell Artist | 50x70 Pencil Prints

We paid close attention to the invisible lines within the space, allowing each artwork to breathe and shine. Leading up to the main entrance of the apartment, a vibrant trail of colourful prints sets the tone and draws the eye inward. Once inside, a local scene of Borough sits proudly above the console table, offering guests a warm and familiar welcome. The living room was curated with colourful prints and an Original over the sideboard selected to complement the palette and textures of the furnishings — adding energy without overwhelming the space.

Upstairs, the staircase and hallways were the perfect place for black-and-white prints, chosen for their understated elegance. These pieces brought a calm sophistication that echoed the apartment’s effortless charm. From bold colour to quiet monochrome, each piece was carefully chosen to highlight both the art and the architecture — making the home feel truly complete.
