St Katharine Docks & Wapping Art Prints & Riverside London Memories
St Katharine Docks and Wapping offer a quieter and more reflective side of London life beside the River Thames and Tower Bridge. Once part of London’s historic docklands, the area is now known for its marinas, converted warehouses and peaceful waterside walkways.
During the COVID lockdown period, I found myself regularly walking and cycling around Wapping and St Katharine Docks, discovering hidden riverside scenes and quieter corners of London. One location that particularly stayed with me was the Ornamental Canal in Wapping, where tree-lined pathways and calm water created an atmosphere that almost felt more Parisian than London, with Tower Bridge appearing quietly in the distance.
I also created a pencil drawing of St Katharine Docks itself, capturing the boats, restaurants and reflections across the marina water. Having painted very few water scenes previously, the docklands offered a completely different perspective and atmosphere for me as an artist.
For me, St Katharine Docks and Wapping represent calmness, discovery and a more peaceful relationship with London life.

Pencil Drawing / A Wonderful Choice for Presents
Presenting a pencil drawing of Ornamental Canal in Wapping, this artwork unveils a local gem hidden in plain sight. The piece beautifully captures the canal's towpath, adorned by lush green procession of trees flanking its banks. The distant figures of Tower Bridge and the Shard grace the horizon, a testament to the canal's unique vantage point. A haven of tranquillity amidst the urban frenzy, this idyllic retreat beckons visitors for serene strolls and peaceful contemplation.
Diving into the history of the Ornamental Canal in Wapping, it stands as the sole remnant of the Western Dock region of the historic London Docks. The majority of the area was repurposed for housing during the 1980s, leaving this canal as a remnant of the past.
Within this pencil rendering, the Ornamental Canal emerges as an emblem of serenity. Envision harmonizing this scene with a myriad of other pencil drawings, crafting a captivating London-themed montage that resonates exquisitely within your home or workplace.
